Sharon Le Fort has spent years learning how to live beyond survival, and now she helps others do the same. She's a Queensland-based speaker, author, advocate and Peer Practice Lead, and the founder of Le Fort Consultancy Services. Her life has been shaped by childhood trauma, domestic and sexual violence, grief and dissociation. She didn't let those experiences limit her life. She turned them into insight, purpose and connection.
With Health & Harmony, Sharon has completed our Counsellor Course, Grief and Bereavement Counselling Certificate and Intuitive Spiritual Healing Practitioner Course. She also completed Healing Through Narrative, one of our earlier courses. We're thrilled to celebrate Sharon as our September student of the month.
Beside, not above
Sharon came to Health & Harmony to deepen her professional knowledge and her understanding of healing. Each course changed how she sees the people she works with.
"Each course has added another layer to the way I understand people, not as problems to be fixed, but as whole human beings whose behaviours, stories, grief and survival responses deserve curiosity, dignity and compassion."
That idea runs through all of her work. Her studies didn't make her an authority on anyone else's life. They made her a better companion in it.
"My education has not taught me to stand above another person as an expert on their life. It has taught me how to stand beside them with greater knowledge, integrity and presence."

Healing and learning, side by side
For Sharon, study and healing were never separate.
"My study journey has not been separate from my personal healing. It has unfolded alongside it."
Some of the material challenged her academically. Some of it did something she hadn't expected: it gave her language for experiences she had carried for decades.
Each course added its own piece. Counselling helped her understand human behaviour and therapeutic practice. Grief and Bereavement Counselling taught her to hold the many forms of loss that often go unrecognised. Healing Through Narrative strengthened her belief in telling our stories in our own words. Intuitive Spiritual Healing let her honour the deeper, less visible parts of healing and human connection.
Together, they helped her bring every part of herself into one whole: the professional, the writer, the intuitive practitioner and the advocate, alongside the woman who lived through the very experiences she now speaks about.
Persistence, one door at a time
Ask Sharon what she's most proud of and the answer is simple:
"I am most proud that I kept going."
She returned to study as an adult while working, healing, writing and dealing with significant personal challenges. And she didn't stop at one qualification.
"I continued learning because each qualification opened another door into the work I knew I was here to do."
That persistence carried into her writing. Her published memoir, Unravelled, explores trauma, domestic violence, identity, survival and the slow work of reclaiming her voice. For Sharon, it marks the moment she stopped protecting the silence around her experiences and started using her story to create connection and change.
The pride goes deeper than any single achievement:
"I am proud that I have taken experiences that once carried silence and shame and transformed them into something that may help another person feel less alone."
Survival Intelligence
At the centre of Sharon's work is a framework she calls Survival Intelligence. It holds that behaviours like hypervigilance, people-pleasing, emotional numbness, perfectionism and dissociation aren't evidence of weakness.
"They are intelligent adaptations developed by the mind, body and nervous system in response to adversity."
This reframe challenges the shame that so often surrounds trauma. As Sharon puts it,
"Healing is not about condemning the person they became to survive. It is about creating enough safety and awareness to choose how they want to live now."
Where she's taking her practice
Sharon's work is growing across speaking, writing, advocacy, intuitive coaching and lived-experience peer practice. She's taking Survival Intelligence into conferences, professional education, community conversations, group programs and one-on-one work.
Her speaking brings lived experience into professional and community settings, with a focus on childhood trauma, domestic and sexual violence, dissociation, grief and peer practice. The aim is to close the gap between clinical knowledge and what it's actually like to live through trauma, and beyond it.
Her narrative work keeps making room for the whole truth of survival. She writes
"not to create a polished or sanitised version of survival, but to make room for the complicated, confronting and deeply human truth of it."
Her intuitive, trauma-aware practice follows the same principle.
"The intention is not to tell people who they should become, but to create a grounded and compassionate space in which they can hear and return to themselves."
What her journey has given her,
"My studies gave language to what I had lived, structure to what I intuitively understood, and the confidence to transform survival into meaningful work."
